Specifics: I purchased WD TV Live June 2014 from Amazon, specifically because it was rated high for use of Netflix and was still listed as a supported Western Digital product. It has a WD To Go App, but that's only for the My Book Live. We'll admit, at this price, the only streamer with a smartphone app is the Apple TV and its nonetheless excellent AirPlay feature is WD TV Live HD Media Player-This is the original version that launched in 2009. WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player - This adds support for DRM-protected services. WD TV Live Hub Media Center - This features an internal hard drive for more local storage. WD TV Live Streaming Media Player - This adds support for online services, like Netflix and Spotify. 5) MyBook Live is a huge step forward, but bear with the industry. It is getting better, and the emerging standards will converge. iTunes/AirPlay is NOT DLNA, it is Apple's own protocol. I am betting that a firmware update on WD's side, or perhaps an update on Apple TV / iOS end, will eventually support both or a newer inclusive protocol.
I would be so great to have DLNA support in Spotify, both in the desktop and mobile versions.. There should be a simple "Play To" feature so music can be played on the living room stereo and controlled from a mobile device without the use of a combination of desktop computer, JamCast, 2Player, WD TV live box ect.. It could be combined with AirPlay support, but I'm using a Windows/Android setup
